What is a DTO?

A DTO — download to own – is a method of purchasing a movie either by scene or in its entirety without obtaining a physical DVD. The user owns the video file located on his hard drive and only requires a one-time fee. Please click here to download a free video tutorial about how to DTO.

How do I download a DTO?

Windows Users:
Left click on the first link you receive on your order confirmation page or the emailed invoice, then right click on the download button (next to the red circle) and select Save Link As...

Mac Users:
Click on the first link you receive on your order confirmation page or the emailed invoice. To automatically download the file press the option key while clicking the following link and your scene/film will be downloaded according to your computer's settings. ***If you wish to pick the location where the file is downloaded, press the control button while simultaneously clicking your mouse and a dropdown menu will appear – choose save as.

What resolution are TIM DTO's?

640X480 DVD quality.

Are TIM DTO's in HD?

We are presently using HD cameras to film our movies. New full length releases mastered in HD are scheduled for the fall of 2009.

Do I need to purchase Quicktime Pro to view the video?

No. Files will play on the free version of Quicktime, iTunes, and other freeware media players in MP4 format. If there are issues try updating your player: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/.

How long will it take to download on dialup vs. highspeed?

Downloading a file is dependent upon the length of the scene/film and the user's connection speed. The following chart gives an approximation of how long a 100 to 250 mb scene will take to download according to the user's connection:

When will newer releases be available for download?

New releases will be available for download for the first three weeks of the release. Each release will become available for DTO between 6-12 months dependent upon the discretion of TIM.

In what format are the videos?

mp4.

Where is the file automatically downloaded?

A user's computer automatically designates the location of a downloaded file. It's usually the desktop unless the user has changed the default location in the browser settings.

What do I do if the file won't download?

If you are unable to download TIM scenes/videos or if you receive a very small file when downloading, then contact adam@treasureislandmedia.com or call 877-553-8181 and we can help. To expedite your call please have the following information:

  • Computer type and Operating System (OS) version.
  • Browser type and version.
  • The name of the video and scene number (information is located on the invoice.

What happens if the download stops or times out before it’s finished downloading to my computer?

If you are experiencing problems such as server time outs or the download stopping before entirely completing you may want to use a download manager. There are many that are free online and others have a small fee. You can read more about download managers here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Download_manager.

What can I do if the file has downloaded but there only video and no sound or vice versa?

Check to make sure you have the most recent version of your media player. Updating your player to the most current version usually solves this.
